Sail Newport's 20th Anniversary Celebration October 25, 2003 at Sail Newport Sailing Center, Fort Adams State Park On-line tickets 20 years ago this September, Newport was stunned by the loss of the America’s Cup. However, during that same week, the defeat inspired the creation of Sail Newport. This year, we celebrate the organization’s twentieth anniversary as “Rhode Island’s Public Sailing Center” after two remarkable decades of promoting and developing public sailing opportunities, educational programs and regattas in Newport. To mark the occasion, we will hold a dinner dance with a water view on October 25th. The 20th Anniversary Celebration will also invite guest sailboats to dock, dress and illuminate ship for the evening event. In addition, it should make for a memorable evening when Peter Reggio auctions some very novel items. Tables of ten are available now, in advance of ticket sales, to longtime supporters of Sail Newport. We’re excited to announce that this event is the “starting gun” to raise an ambitious $250,000 to purchase an entire new fleet of Keelboats. The new boats will be used for our widely popular adult and youth training, rental and event programs and our developing match racing center.
